Greetings and Salutations Once Again Audience,
This review may have very light Spoilers but nothing to majer, no plot points or crazy reveals. So lets get in to it. The film is a reset of the Terminator timeline and hopes to launch a new trilogy of films. Kyle Reese (Courtney) is sent back in time by John Connor (Jason Clarke) to protect John’s mother Sarah (Emilia Clarke) as she is hunted by the Terminator. Once he arrives at his destination, Reese meets up with a battle-hardened Sarah who has been raised since childhood by an aged T-800 model Terminator (Schwarzenegger), and the trio team up to stop Judgment Day from happening.
Terminator: Genisys recovering from the less then well received Salvation, Which I personally liked and enjoyed. For me it was Terminator 3:Rise of the Machines that really dropped the ball. But I’ll admit Salvation did lack that Terminator feel. I always say that if Terminator: Salvation was called something else and not connected to Terminator then I think it would have been a much better received film.
Genisys an alternate timeline; Genisys, The Terminator and its much more superior Terminator 2: Judgment Day, are the only history that matters. Like other franchises Star Trek to name one, Genisys is a pre-sequel; to re-write the time line and start a new franchise.
In my option the movie was funny. Did it have some major problems? Sure, The story with John just takes you out of the movie and towards the end; scenes by scenes the whole ending became predictable. Emilia Clarke who plays The mother of Dragons on Game of Thrones. I really love Emilia Clarke, I see her becoming a huge star. She Just needs to pick the right projects and she’ll be great. Jai Courtney plays Kyle Reese, Jai is no Michael Biehn and for me personally I kind of like him better as a hero and not as a dick likes also casted. Matt Smith in my own option took me right out of the movie. He felt out of place and well… Forced.
The biggest problem that the Terminator franchise is suffering from is that their humanizing Sky Net. I don’t want to see sky net as a hologram. T1 & T2 worked so well with out it. Well anyways the movie even with all its problems was still a fun ride. I enjoyed my time watching it and its a fresh new start to a new line of movies. I wouldn’t the rights going back to James Cameron. But I don’t see that happening any time soon. Unless of course the next movie bombs and bombs hard. I give this movie 6 out of 10.
